Tab Pact Privacy Policy
Effective Date: September 10, 2026 Last Updated: September 22, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Parker Phillips, operating Tab Pact (“Tab Pact,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), collects, uses, discloses, retains, and protects personal information when you access or use:
- https://tabpact.com;
- Tab Pact Organizer accounts;
- Event-management functionality;
- personal Participant invitations;
- reusable Event invitation links;
- Participant RSVP and payment-coordination pages; and
- other Tab Pact features that link to this Privacy Policy,
collectively, the “Service.”
This Privacy Policy should be read together with the Tab Pact Terms of Service.
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to personal information processed through the Tab Pact Service.
It does not govern information processed independently by third parties whose services you choose to use, such as Venmo, PayPal, Cash App, your bank, or other external payment services.
Those companies have their own privacy policies and data practices.
2. Who Operates Tab Pact
Tab Pact is currently operated by:
Parker Phillips Tab Pact Washington, United States Website: https://tabpact.com Email: support@tabpact.com
If the Service is later transferred to a corporation, limited liability company, or other legal entity operating Tab Pact, this Privacy Policy may be updated to identify that entity.
3. Information We Collect
The information we collect depends on how you interact with Tab Pact.
3.1 Account and Identity Information
When you create or maintain an Organizer account, we may collect:
- your email address;
- your display name;
- an avatar or profile image URL, if provided;
- authentication identifiers;
- account creation and update timestamps; and
- information necessary to authenticate and secure your account.
Passwords are handled through our authentication infrastructure. Tab Pact does not need to store your plaintext password.
3.2 Organizer Preferences
We may collect preferences associated with your account, including:
- Event-response notification preferences;
- payment-update notification preferences;
- reminder preferences;
- product-news preferences;
- preferred reminder tone; and
- preferences concerning what information reminder messages should contain.
3.3 External Payment Method Information
Organizers may provide information that Participants can use to pay them outside Tab Pact.
Depending on the Payment Method, this may include:
- payment-service type;
- a label describing the Payment Method;
- a Venmo, PayPal, Cash App, or similar username or handle;
- an HTTPS payment link;
- custom payment instructions; and
- whether a method is designated as primary.
Tab Pact does not require or intend to collect your full bank-account number, debit-card number, credit-card number, card security code, payment-service password, or other payment-account login credentials.
Please do not enter those credentials into Tab Pact.
3.4 Event Information
Organizers may submit information concerning Events, including:
- Event name;
- Event category;
- Event description;
- Event date;
- Event location;
- commitment or RSVP deadline;
- estimated per-person cost;
- minimum desired Participant count;
- currency;
- Event status; and
- timestamps and other records associated with Event management.
Event locations are text supplied by users. Tab Pact does not need access to your device's precise GPS location in order to provide the core Service.
3.5 Participant Information
An Organizer may provide certain information about people invited to an Event.
This may include:
- Participant name;
- email address;
- a legacy telephone number, if it was provided before Tab Pact stopped collecting participant phone numbers;
- avatar information;
- role in the Event;
- RSVP, attendance, or commitment status;
- whether an invitation has been claimed or used; and
- information associated with the Participant's Event access.
Participants may also supply certain information directly when responding to an invitation or joining an Event.
3.6 Invitation and Access Information
Tab Pact creates credentials that allow authorized Participants to access invitation pages without necessarily creating an account.
We may process information including:
- invitation identifiers;
- cryptographic hashes of invitation tokens;
- encrypted copies of invitation tokens;
- token versions;
- invitation creation dates;
- expiration dates;
- revocation dates;
- recent-use timestamps;
- group-link state;
- claim status; and
- browser-stored information needed to preserve legitimate anonymous Participant access.
For security, Tab Pact uses cryptographic hashes to validate invitation tokens. Recoverable copies of group and personal invitation tokens are stored separately using Supabase Vault encryption so an authenticated Organizer can reuse the same invitation URL across devices.
However, the raw invitation credential may appear in the invitation URL supplied to the Participant.
You should therefore treat an invitation link as private.
Invitation URLs may also exist outside Tab Pact—for example, in:
- messages through which a user shared the invitation;
- a recipient's browser history;
- clipboard history;
- screenshots; or
- other systems controlled by the sender or recipient.
3.7 Expense Information
When users create or manage Expenses, we may collect:
- Expense name;
- total amount;
- due date;
- split method;
- Expense status;
- Participants assigned to the Expense;
- each Participant's allocated amount;
- amounts recorded as paid; and
- timestamps associated with Expense activity.
Amounts are used to coordinate obligations among users. They do not represent money held by Tab Pact.
3.8 Payment-Status Information
We may collect and maintain information concerning payment-coordination activity, including whether an Expense is:
- not requested;
- due;
- marked paid; or
- confirmed paid.
We may also maintain an audit history concerning changes in payment status, including:
- previous status;
- new status;
- whether the action was associated with an Organizer, Participant, or system operation;
- timestamps; and
- limited notes where supported.
These records describe actions taken within Tab Pact.
They do not mean that Tab Pact processed or independently verified the underlying external payment.
3.9 Communications and Support Information
If you contact us, we may collect:
- your name;
- email address;
- contents of your message;
- screenshots or information you choose to provide;
- support history; and
- other information reasonably necessary to respond.
Please do not send passwords, full payment-card information, banking credentials, or other highly sensitive credentials in support messages.
3.10 Technical and Device Information
When you use an online service, certain technical information may be processed automatically by Tab Pact or our infrastructure providers.
Depending on the circumstances, this may include:
- IP address;
- browser type;
- operating system;
- device type;
- request date and time;
- response status;
- referring information;
- general request metadata;
- security-event information;
- session information;
- error information; and
- other technical information needed to deliver and protect the Service.
Our application logging is designed to minimize unnecessary personal information and avoid intentionally logging sensitive Event content, contact information, or invitation credentials.
Infrastructure providers may nevertheless process technical request information as necessary to deliver, protect, and troubleshoot the Service.
3.11 Product, Marketing, and Operational Events
Tab Pact may record limited product events relating to successful use of important functionality, such as:
- creation of an Event;
- submission of an invitation response;
- creation of an Expense; and
- confirmation of a payment status.
We may also record limited first-party marketing attribution information when you visit public Tab Pact pages. This may include:
- the page path;
- campaign parameters included in a Tab Pact URL, such as UTM source, medium, campaign, content, or term;
- an external referring website hostname when available;
- a random browser-tab session identifier;
- limited interaction events, such as clicking a create-event button or reaching a signup-form milestone, together with the relevant page or funnel stage; and
- timestamps associated with those visits or interactions.
Signup-funnel analytics record milestone events only. They do not copy the name, email address, password, password confirmation, or other field values entered into the signup form.
If an Organizer account is created during the same browser-tab session, Tab Pact may associate the campaign attribution with that account for the limited purpose of measuring signup and first-Event activation. Marketing event records are designed not to copy the Organizer's name, email address, payment information, Event identifiers, Participant identifiers, IP address, or invitation credentials.
Where product or marketing events are generated by our application, they are designed to minimize unnecessary personal information.
We may use such information to understand whether core functionality is operating correctly, how the Service is being used, and whether Tab Pact's own marketing campaigns are effective.
4. Information We Do Not Intend to Collect
Tab Pact is not designed to collect or store:
- Social Security numbers;
- passport numbers;
- driver's-license numbers;
- full bank-account credentials;
- full credit- or debit-card numbers;
- card security codes;
- payment-service passwords;
- authentication codes;
- biometric templates;
- medical records;
- health diagnoses;
- genetic information;
- precise device geolocation; or
- information about children under 13.
Please do not submit such information through the Service.
If information of this nature is submitted contrary to our instructions, we may delete or restrict it where reasonably practicable.
5. Consumer Health Information
Tab Pact is not designed as a health service and does not intentionally collect consumer health data for health-related purposes.
Do not enter medical conditions, diagnoses, treatment information, reproductive or sexual-health information, biometric health information, or other health records into Event descriptions, Participant records, payment notes, or support requests.
If Tab Pact were to introduce functionality that intentionally collects consumer health data in the future, we would review applicable legal obligations and provide any additional notices or consents required before launching such functionality.
6. How We Collect Information
We collect information from the following categories of sources.
6.1 Directly From You
We receive information when you:
- create an account;
- update settings;
- create an Event;
- create an Expense;
- configure Payment Methods;
- respond to invitations;
- report payment activity;
- contact support; or
- otherwise use the Service.
6.2 From Other Users
An Organizer may provide information about a Participant, including the Participant's:
- name;
- email address;
- a legacy telephone number, if it was provided before Tab Pact stopped collecting participant phone numbers;
- Event participation;
- assigned Expenses; and
- other information necessary for the Event.
Participants may also generate information visible to the Organizer, such as RSVP responses and payment-status reports.
6.3 Automatically Through the Service
We and our infrastructure providers may automatically process technical information needed to:
- serve webpages;
- authenticate users;
- maintain sessions;
- prevent abuse;
- diagnose errors;
- enforce rate limits;
- protect infrastructure; and
- operate the Service.
6.4 From Service Providers
Our service providers may provide us with technical or operational information about the Service, such as:
- authentication status;
- email-delivery status;
- infrastructure errors;
- security signals; and
- service-health information.
We do not currently use external payment providers to verify whether Participant-to-Organizer payments occurred.
7. How We Use Personal Information
We may use personal information to:
7.1 Provide the Service
This includes using information to:
- create and maintain accounts;
- authenticate users;
- create and display Events;
- manage Participants;
- generate and validate invitations;
- process RSVP responses;
- create and allocate Expenses;
- calculate amounts;
- display Payment Methods;
- record payment statuses;
- synchronize Event information across sessions and devices; and
- perform other user-requested actions.
7.2 Facilitate Communication and Coordination
We may use information to:
- show Participants Event information;
- allow Organizers to manage Participants;
- provide payment instructions;
- create or copy reminders;
- communicate account information; and
- enable users to coordinate Event expenses.
7.3 Protect Accounts and the Service
We may use information to:
- authenticate access;
- detect suspicious activity;
- prevent fraud and abuse;
- enforce rate limits;
- investigate security incidents;
- revoke compromised access;
- maintain audit records;
- debug security failures; and
- enforce our Terms of Service.
7.4 Maintain and Improve Tab Pact
We may use limited information to:
- diagnose errors;
- test functionality;
- improve reliability;
- understand feature performance;
- optimize user experience;
- evaluate the effectiveness of Tab Pact's own marketing campaigns;
- evaluate system capacity; and
- develop improvements to the Service.
7.5 Provide Support
We use support information to:
- answer questions;
- investigate reported problems;
- troubleshoot account issues; and
- communicate concerning support requests.
7.6 Send Service Communications
We may send:
- account confirmation emails;
- authentication emails;
- password-reset emails;
- security alerts;
- Event-related communications;
- administrative notices; and
- other communications necessary to provide the Service.
If you affirmatively enable optional product-news communications, we may also send those communications.
7.7 Comply With Law
We may process information when reasonably necessary to:
- comply with applicable law;
- respond to valid legal process;
- protect legal rights;
- establish, exercise, or defend legal claims;
- investigate fraud or abuse; or
- protect users or the public from serious harm.
8. How Information Is Shared
We do not disclose personal information indiscriminately.
We may disclose information in the circumstances below.
8.1 Other Users in Your Event
Information must sometimes be shared among users for Tab Pact to function.
For example:
- an Organizer may see Participant information and RSVP status;
- an Organizer may see payment-status reports;
- a Participant may see relevant Event information;
- a Participant may see Expenses assigned to that Participant;
- a Participant may see the Organizer's Payment Methods; and
- authorized users may see information necessary to use an Event invitation or payment workflow.
Tab Pact is designed to limit Participant-facing information to what is reasonably necessary for the relevant Event functionality.
However, users are responsible for information they independently copy, share, screenshot, or communicate outside Tab Pact.
8.2 Service Providers
We use service providers that process information on our behalf to operate the Service.
These may include providers of:
- cloud hosting;
- content delivery;
- databases;
- authentication;
- transactional email;
- security;
- error monitoring;
- logging;
- analytics; and
- infrastructure.
As of the Effective Date, major infrastructure providers include:
Vercel — application hosting, deployment, edge delivery, infrastructure, and associated technical operations.
Supabase — database infrastructure, authentication, server-side data services, and related backend functionality.
Resend — transactional email delivery associated with account, authentication, and support communications.
These providers may process information only as necessary to perform services for Tab Pact and subject to their applicable contracts and privacy practices.
Our service-provider relationships may change as the Service evolves.
8.3 Legal Requirements and Safety
We may disclose information if we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to:
- comply with law;
- respond to a subpoena, warrant, court order, or other valid legal process;
- protect our legal rights;
- investigate fraud;
- enforce our Terms;
- respond to security incidents;
- prevent serious harm; or
- protect users, Tab Pact, or the public.
Where legally permitted and appropriate, we may seek to narrow or challenge requests we believe are overbroad.
8.4 Business or Organizational Transactions
If Tab Pact is incorporated, reorganized, financed, sold, merged, acquired, or transferred to another operator, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
Any successor receiving personal information will be subject to applicable privacy obligations.
8.5 With Your Direction or Consent
We may disclose information when you expressly direct us to do so or provide valid consent.
9. We Do Not Sell Personal Information
Tab Pact does not sell users' personal information for money.
Tab Pact also does not currently share personal information with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted advertising based on activity across unrelated websites or services.
We do not operate a data-broker business.
We do not sell lists of:
- Organizer information;
- Participant information;
- Event information;
- Expense information; or
- payment-coordination information.
If these practices materially change, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide any choices or notices required by applicable law before engaging in the new practice.
10. Advertising
Tab Pact may advertise the Service and use first-party campaign parameters and aggregate funnel metrics to understand whether those advertisements lead people to visit Tab Pact, click a create-event action, create Organizer accounts, or create their first Event.
Tab Pact does not currently use personal information to serve third-party behavioral advertisements based on your activity across unrelated websites or services.
If advertising practices change materially, this Privacy Policy will be updated before such use as required by applicable law.
11. Cookies and Similar Technologies
Tab Pact uses cookies and similar browser-storage technologies where necessary to provide and secure the Service.
These technologies may be used for:
- authentication;
- session management;
- maintaining login state;
- maintaining legitimate Participant access;
- preserving anonymous invitation claims;
- maintaining a random per-tab identifier used for first-party campaign attribution;
- security; and
- essential application functionality.
Some information necessary for invitation access may be stored locally in the browser. Tab Pact may also use browser session storage for the random marketing-session identifier described above; that identifier is scoped to the browser tab and is not itself an email address, account name, payment credential, or Event identifier.
You may be able to remove cookies or local storage through your browser settings, but doing so may:
- sign you out;
- remove remembered Participant access;
- interrupt Event functionality; or
- require you to obtain or reopen an invitation link.
Tab Pact does not currently use third-party advertising cookies for cross-site behavioral advertising.
12. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Controls
Some browsers offer a legacy “Do Not Track” (“DNT”) setting.
Because there is no universally adopted standard governing how websites must respond to DNT signals, Tab Pact does not currently take a separate action in response to the legacy DNT signal.
Tab Pact does not currently sell personal information or use cross-site behavioral advertising as described in this Privacy Policy.
Where applicable law requires us to recognize a legally valid browser-based opt-out preference signal, such as a supported Global Privacy Control, we will honor that signal to the extent required for the relevant processing.
13. Data Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to provide the Service, maintain security and auditability, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and comply with legal obligations.
Retention depends on the type of information and why it is processed.
Account Information
Account information is generally retained while an account remains active and for a limited period afterward where reasonably necessary for account recovery, fraud prevention, security, dispute resolution, or legal compliance.
An Organizer can permanently delete the Organizer account directly from Settings → Account & security. The self-service flow verifies the active session and requires additional typed confirmations before deletion.
Event and Participant Information
Event, Participant, Expense, and payment-coordination information may be retained while the Event or associated Organizer account remains active.
Deleting an Organizer account removes Events owned by that Organizer, together with their invitations, Participant records, Expenses, payment-coordination history, and related notification-delivery records from active application systems. If the verified account email appears as a Participant in another Organizer's Event, Tab Pact removes the active invitation and replaces direct identifiers in that shared Participant record with a deleted-participant label so the other Organizer can retain non-identifying Expense amounts and payment-status history.
Information may be deleted when:
- an Event is deleted;
- a Participant record is appropriately removed;
- an account is deleted; or
- retention is no longer reasonably necessary,
subject to technical, security, legal, and backup limitations.
Payment Activity and Security Records
Certain audit and security records may be retained after related information changes or is deleted when reasonably necessary to:
- preserve transaction-state integrity;
- investigate abuse;
- prevent fraud;
- resolve disputes; or
- establish or defend legal claims.
Tab Pact retains anonymous daily business metrics after account deletion, including counts of accounts, Events, Participants, Expenses, and payment-status changes and aggregate integer-cent totals. These retained reporting rows do not include names, email addresses, user IDs, Event IDs, Participant IDs, Expense IDs, invitation credentials, payment handles, notification-delivery IDs, or provider-message IDs. Because Tab Pact coordinates external payments and does not process or hold funds, detailed payment-coordination records for Events owned by a deleted Organizer are removed from active application systems.
Email bounce, complaint, unsubscribe, and provider-suppression records may be retained where reasonably necessary to prevent unwanted or unsafe delivery and honor communication choices.
Logs
Operational and security logs are retained for a limited period appropriate to troubleshooting, security, abuse prevention, and infrastructure operations.
Infrastructure providers may maintain their own retention schedules.
Backups
Deleted information may persist temporarily in encrypted or access-controlled backups until those backups are overwritten or expire under normal retention schedules.
We do not restore deleted information from backup merely to continue ordinary use of information that a user validly requested us to delete.
14. Security
We maintain administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information.
Depending on the information and system, these safeguards may include:
- encrypted HTTPS communications;
- authenticated sessions;
- database access controls;
- row-level authorization controls;
- least-privilege architecture;
- cryptographically hashed invitation tokens;
- encrypted storage for recoverable invitation credentials;
- server-side validation;
- rate limiting;
- security testing;
- audit mechanisms;
- access restrictions;
- separation of production and non-production environments; and
- privacy-conscious application logging.
No system can guarantee absolute security.
Internet transmission, cloud infrastructure, user devices, email accounts, and third-party services can all be compromised despite reasonable safeguards.
You should:
- use a strong and unique password;
- protect your email account;
- keep private invitation links confidential;
- verify payment information before sending money; and
- notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.
Security concerns may be reported to support@tabpact.com.
15. Your Privacy Choices
Depending on the information involved and applicable law, you may be able to:
- access personal information associated with you;
- correct inaccurate account information;
- update account preferences;
- delete your Organizer account directly through Settings;
- request deletion of your account when the self-service flow is unavailable;
- request deletion of certain personal information;
- request a copy of certain information;
- revoke or replace invitation links where you are the Organizer;
- opt out of optional product-news communications; or
- object to certain uses where applicable law provides that right.
Account deletion and some other requests can be completed directly through the Service.
Other requests may be submitted to support@tabpact.com.
16. Privacy Requests
To make a privacy request, contact:
Please include sufficient information for us to understand the request and identify the relevant account or interaction.
We may need to verify your identity before providing, correcting, exporting, or deleting personal information.
Verification may involve confirming access to the email address associated with the relevant Tab Pact account.
We will not ask for information that is disproportionate to the verification needed.
We may decline or limit a request where permitted by law, including where:
- we cannot reasonably verify the requester;
- disclosure would adversely affect another person's rights;
- information must be retained for security or fraud prevention;
- retention is legally required;
- information is subject to legal privilege;
- deletion would undermine an active legal claim; or
- another statutory exception applies.
We will explain a denial where applicable law requires us to do so.
17. U.S. State Privacy Rights
Residents of certain U.S. states may have additional privacy rights under applicable state law.
Depending on the jurisdiction and whether the relevant law applies to Tab Pact, those rights may include the right to:
- know or access personal information;
- obtain information about categories of personal information collected;
- learn the purposes for which information is used;
- learn categories of recipients;
- correct inaccurate personal information;
- request deletion;
- obtain a portable copy of information;
- opt out of the sale of personal information;
- opt out of certain targeted advertising;
- opt out of certain profiling;
- limit certain uses of sensitive personal information;
- appeal a denial of a privacy request; and
- receive equal service without unlawful discrimination for exercising privacy rights.
Tab Pact does not currently sell personal information or engage in cross-context behavioral advertising as described above.
You may submit a request through support@tabpact.com.
If applicable law gives you a right to appeal our decision concerning a privacy request, you may submit an appeal to the same email with the subject “Privacy Appeal.”
18. California Privacy Disclosures
This section supplements the remainder of this Privacy Policy for California residents.

- access;
- correct;
- delete;
- opt out of sale or sharing;
- limit certain uses of sensitive personal information; and

Sensitive Personal Information
Tab Pact does not intentionally collect highly sensitive information such as Social Security numbers, financial-account login credentials, precise device geolocation, or health records for ordinary operation of the Service.
Users should not submit such information.
19. Non-Discrimination
We will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right available to you under applicable law.
Exercising a valid privacy right will not result in retaliation or an unlawful difference in service.
Certain functionality may necessarily depend on information that you ask us to delete. For example, deleting an account or Event may make the corresponding Service functionality unavailable. This is not discriminatory treatment; it is a technical consequence of removing information needed to provide that functionality.
20. Authorized Agents
Where applicable law permits use of an authorized agent to submit a privacy request on your behalf, we may require reasonable proof that:
- the agent is authorized to act for you; and
- the request concerns personal information associated with you.
We may also contact you directly to verify the request where permitted by law.
21. Children
Tab Pact is not directed to children under 13, and children under 13 are not permitted to use the Service.
We do not knowingly seek to collect personal information directly from children under 13.
Organizers must not knowingly submit personal information about a child under 13 through the Service.
If you believe that information concerning a child under 13 has been provided to Tab Pact, contact support@tabpact.com.
If we determine that personal information was collected in circumstances requiring deletion under applicable children's privacy law, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
Users between 13 and 17 should use participant functionality only with appropriate parental or guardian permission where required.
22. External Payment Services
If you choose to open or use an external service such as Venmo, PayPal, Cash App, or another payment service, your interaction with that provider is governed by its privacy practices.
Tab Pact does not control how those providers collect or use your information.
Tab Pact does not receive a copy of your external payment-service password simply because you open an external payment service through a Tab Pact link.
Tab Pact also does not automatically receive confirmation from an external provider that a payment occurred unless a future feature expressly states otherwise and this Privacy Policy is updated as appropriate.
23. Third-Party Links
The Service may contain links to external websites or applications.
We are not responsible for the privacy or security practices of those third parties.
You should review their policies before providing them with information.
24. Email
Tab Pact uses email to provide authentication and operational communications.
Our email provider may process:
- recipient email addresses;
- email content necessary to deliver the communication;
- delivery status;
- bounce information;
- message identifiers; and
- related delivery metadata.
Do not forward authentication or password-reset messages to others.
25. International Processing
Tab Pact is operated from the United States.
Our service providers may process information in the United States or other jurisdictions where they maintain infrastructure.
If you access Tab Pact from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in jurisdictions whose data-protection laws differ from those in your location.
Tab Pact is currently intended primarily for U.S. users and does not represent that the Service has been specifically configured for every non-U.S. privacy regime.
26. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the Service, technology, vendors, or legal requirements change.
When we make changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this policy.
If a change materially alters how we collect, use, or disclose personal information, we will provide reasonable additional notice where appropriate or required by law, such as:
- a notice through the Service;
- an email;
- a website notice; or
- another reasonably conspicuous method.
Where applicable law requires consent before a materially different use of previously collected information, we will obtain that consent.
We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
